5 Ways You Can Turn Your Bedroom Into a Calming Oasis

Ending the day in a calm and comfortable bedroom does wonders for our rest and relaxation. Here are 5 things you can do to turn your bedroom into the oasis you have always dreamed of.

  1. Opt for calming colours
    Choose colours that are calming and tranquil as oppose to loud and energetic. However, this doesn’t mean you need to choose bland colours, or go for the “all white” look. If you are looking for something with rich tones opt for soft grey or sandstone and pair it with dark turquoise or royal blue accents. This gives you the depth and richness you crave while still creating a calming environment.

  2. Less is more
    Minimalism is key to a calming room. Create a room that is free of clutter by storing all items properly as well as keeping decorations to a minimum. Opt for one or two pieces of wall art and keep it at that. Stay away from busy patterns and loud decorations since these will not create a calming affect.

  4. Pick the perfect nightstand
    Whether you are looking for a place to stash a good book or just plug in your phone for the night a good nightstand can make a huge difference. Choose one with adequate storage space for your needs so that you can keep it clutter free. If possible, find one that allows you to tuck your phone and tablet away while you sleep. The bright lights mess with your sleep schedule and having them within eyesight makes you more tempted to stay up late instead of going to bed on time.

  5. Choose the right lighting
    Waking up to natural light is wonderful so try and maximize the amount of sunshine that enters your room. You can do this by opting for sheer curtains instead of opaque ones or getting blinds so you can let sunlight in while maintaining your privacy. Light also plays a huge role in relaxing. Consider installing a dimmer switch so you can light the room softly or invest in a bedside lamp in addition to your built in overhead lighting. Dimmed lighting and bedside lamps also make it less likely you will disturb your partner if one of you needs to get up in the night or if you get up or go to bed at different times.
